Private Boat Rockfish and Nearshore Trolling

Trolling for Striped Bass: Immerse yourself in the exciting world of nearshore trolling in Ocean City with Just A Toy Guide Service, expertly led by Captain Robert Anderson. Our nearshore trolling excursions are specially tailored for the late fall season, targeting the coveted Striped Bass, locally known as Rockfish. These fishing trips take you up to 3 miles off the beaches of Assateague Island, Ocean City, and Fenwick Island, offering an unparalleled fishing experience. The peak season for catching these magnificent fish typically spans from the beginning of September until the end of April, with the larger specimens making their appearance in late fall. During the winter, the striped bass’s activity slows down due to reduced bait availability and cooler water temperatures, making the late fall an ideal time for a successful catch.

Expert Techniques and Top-Notch Equipment

Captain Robert Anderson employs advanced fishing techniques to enhance your chances of a great catch. Utilizing planer boards, he sets out a spread of mojo rigs and spreader bars, occasionally incorporating stretch lures to attract these prized fish. The 2023 fishing season allows anglers to catch one striped bass per person within a specific slot size, adhering to a minimum length of 28 inches and a maximum length of 31 inches. In addition to striped bass, large bluefish often mingle within the schools, offering a fun and exhilarating catch. While striped bass are versatile in culinary preparations, bluefish are particularly delightful when smoked or freshly grilled.
